In correctional healthcare, few things matter more than consistency, compassion, and clinical excellence, and Nicole Hooper, APRN, brings all three to the forefront of her work in Wichita County, Texas.
Nicole Hooper’s journey with CorrHealth began after working part-time for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Drawn to the opportunity for a full-time position in correctional healthcare, she joined CorrHealth and quickly became a valued member of the Wichita County team. As a provider, her day starts early, reviewing charts, labs, and medication refills. From chronic care clinics each morning to seeing acute care patients throughout the day, Nicole stays hands-on with her patients and is responsive to the needs of her nursing team during sick calls.
Building Strong Relationships Through Everyday Care
What stands out about Nicole is not just her clinical expertise, but the genuine connections she builds with teammates and the facility itself. “I enjoy working with Wichita County and CorrHealth on a professional level,” she shares, “but I am grateful for the friendships I’ve developed as well.”
Nicole’s commitment to accessible care extends beyond a single facility. Thanks to standardized protocols and systems across CorrHealth, she’s been able to support other sites, like Midland County, through telehealth visits, helping prevent delays in care and ensuring patients receive timely attention. Her willingness to step in and support multiple teams exemplifies the collaborative spirit we value at CorrHealth.
Patient Outcomes That Make a Difference
One of the most rewarding parts of her role? Seeing patients take charge of their health. “Positive patient outcomes are what keep me going,” she says. “When I’m able to educate someone on their diagnosis and follow up regularly, it’s meaningful to see how their condition can be managed – sometimes dramatically – just through consistency and communication.”
Coordinating Complex Care and Creating Balance
Behind the scenes, Nicole also plays an essential role in coordinating with jail administration for patients with complex medical needs. By routinely meeting to review care plans, she ensures both quality treatment and continuity for patients who may be transferred or face evolving medical challenges.
When she’s not caring for patients or coordinating care across facilities, Nicole finds balance outdoors. She spends her free time with her husband and two sons, whether they’re soaking up the sun or cheering from the sidelines at sporting events.
Nicole, thank you for the heart, expertise, and teamwork you bring to our mission every day. Your dedication continues to make a meaningful impact on our team, our patients, and the communities we serve.
