CorrHealth is proud to announce that Nelda Delgado, Health Services Administrator in Comal County, has been awarded the Patriotic Employer Award in recognition of her exemplary support of employees in the National Guard and Army Reserve. Delgado was honored with the distinction by the Texas chapter of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) organization. As a program within the Department of Defense, ESGR advocates for ongoing cooperation between Reserve Component Service (RCS) members and their civilian employers, working to resolve conflicts and promote understanding. The Patriotic Employer Award is the first in a series founded to recognize employers who go above and beyond for the RCS members in their employ. Delgado was nominated by Mathew Rathbun who serves in the Army Reserve and is employed at CorrHealth as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
Facing a prolonged deployment just six months after his start date, Rathbun has been comforted knowing his job is waiting for him upon his return. “For an employer to be willing to hire a reservist, knowing it is necessary for them to be out, periodically, for monthly and bi-annual training and also for them to understand the likelihood of deployment for an extended period of time is impressive,” said Rathbun.
“Ms. Delgado took a chance on me, and her dedication to CorrHealth, Comal County, and our teams, as well as the military reserve, has been nothing short of outstanding.”
As Rathbun’s direct supervisor, Delgado says Rathbun has proven to be an invaluable member of the CorrHealth team. “Matt epitomizes what we look for in our team members,” reflects Delgado. “He is a self-starter and goes above and beyond for us. He brings professionalism, discipline, and genuine leadership to his position as LVN-all skills gained from his time in the military. We’re proud to have him as part of our CorrHealth family.”

Delgado’s leadership is an example of the commitment and core values that CorrHealth has implemented regarding support to its reservist employees. “Nelda is a top-notch leader, and this is just one example of how she represents CorrHealth so well,” said Todd Murphy, CorrHealth Co-Founder and President.“ Nelda supports employees, like Mr. Rathbun, and their mission to protect our country because she knows it’s the right thing to do and part of our ‘Do Right’ mission. We applaud both of them 1000%.”
As a Veteran-owned company with X % of CorrHealth’s employees serving in the National Guard and Reserves, CorrHealth creates a company culture that supports the unique needs of military reserves. CorrHealth strives to ensure that:
- No applicant is denied employment due to service in the National Guard or Reserve.
- No job or career opportunities would be limited or reduced due to service in the National Guard or Reserve.
- Employees will be granted leaves of absence for military training and/or service in the National Guard or Reserve, consistent with the existing laws, without the sacrifice of vacation.
“Nearly half of our military force resides in the National Guard and Reserve, and CorrHealth is honored to support these brave men and women both in their military and civilian jobs,” said Victor Hutchinson, CorrHealth Co-Founder, President of Operations, and Airforce Veteran. “At CorrHealth, we recognize and appreciate not only their dedication and service to our country, but also the great expertise, leadership, and life experience that they bring with them for their civilian professional career. We are proud of Matt Rathbun’s commitment to our country and also appreciate the leadership example that Nelda Delgado is providing to her teams in Comal County. Thank you both for all you do!”
