Dallas, TX – February 25, 2025 – CorrHealth is pleased to announce a new partnership with Adams County, Colorado, where they provide comprehensive healthcare services to the inmates at the Adams County Detention Center. Under this partnership, CorrHealth delivers a full range of medical, mental/behavioral, ancillary, and community-based healthcare programs and services to support the facility’s average daily population of 1,000 inmates. This collaboration will enhance the standard of care at the county’s 1,620-bed detention center while aligning healthcare delivery within state, national, industry, federal, and community-based standards of care.
The long-term objectives of this partnership are to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce liabilities, and serve as a model for sustainable, high-quality correctional healthcare. Key aspects of the program will include, but are not limited to:
- Maximizing on-site care and minimizing the need for high-risk and costly off-site transports, thereby reducing both risks, the resources available at the detention center, and the taxpayer burden.
- Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to aid inmates in detoxing from opioids and other substances, supporting recovery from addiction, saving lives, and reducing recidivism.
- Jail-Based Behavioral Health Services (JBBS) to ensure continuous behavioral health care for inmates during their detention and after their release, helping to ease their transition back into the community.
- Collaboration with local community-based providers such as Arts, BAART, and Behavioral Health Group (BHG), along with outreach to other community organizations interested in supporting this underserved population.
- Research and assistance with grant funding
- Mitigating the county’s risk and liability, focusing on reducing exposure to potential legal issues.
As part of this transition, CorrHealth has retained most of the existing healthcare personnel at the detention center and will employ 67 full-time healthcare professionals, all of whom are locally based.
This partnership marks an essential step in improving correctional healthcare services and advancing the well-being of both inmates and the wider community, which comprises Adams County. With this new initiative, CorrHealth aims to set a new standard for correctional healthcare in Adams County, improving the overall well-being of inmates and helping to better serve and protect the community.
