Dallas, TX – March 1, 2025 – CorrHealth is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado, where they are providing comprehensive healthcare services to the inmates at the Adams County Detention Facility. Under this partnership, CorrHealth delivers a full range of medical, mental/behavioral, ancillary, and community-based healthcare programs and services to support the facility’s average daily population of 1,000 inmates. This collaboration will enhance the standard of care at the county’s 1,620-bed detention facility while aligning healthcare delivery within state, national, industry, federal, and community-based standards of care.
The long-term objectives of this partnership are to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce liabilities, and serve as a model for sustainable, high-quality correctional healthcare. Key aspects of the program will include, but are not limited to:
- Maximizing on-site care and minimizing the need for high-risk and costly off-site transport, thereby reducing both risks, the resources available at the detention facility and taxpayer burden.
- Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to aid inmates in detoxing from opioids and other substances, supporting addiction recovery, saving lives and reducing recidivism.
- Jail-Based Behavioral Health Services (JBBS) to ensure continuous behavioral health care for inmates during their detention and after their release, helping to ease their transition back into the community.
- Collaboration with local community-based providers such as Arts, BAART, and Behavioral Health Group (BHG), along with outreach to other community organizations interested in supporting this underserved population.
- Research and assistance with grant funding
- Mitigating the county’s risk and liability, focusing on reducing exposure to potential legal issues.
As part of this transition, CorrHealth has retained most of the existing healthcare personnel at the detention facility and will employ a total of 67 full-time healthcare professionals, all of whom are locally based.
This partnership marks an important step in improving correctional healthcare services and advancing the well-being of both inmates and the wider community which comprises Adams County.
“We are excited to partner with CorrHealth to enhance the level of healthcare provided to those in our custody,” said Sheriff Gene Claps, Sheriff of Adams County. “Their commitment to integrity, transparency, and building strong partnerships aligns perfectly with our values of dependability, collaboration, compassion, and unity. This partnership not only ensures high-quality care for inmates, but also supports our mission to serve with excellence, fairness, and dedication to our community. We are confident that CorrHealth’s expertise and shared values will lead to better outcomes for inmates, staff, and the entire community.”
Todd Murphy, CorrHealth’s Founder and CEO stated, “Adams County sincerely cares for the health, safety and security of its citizens, and their commitment in supporting locally based healthcare professionals is profound and commendable, while supporting appropriate coverage ratios with licensed healthcare professionals is a clear testament to that notion. We are elated to retain most of the existing team members who are serving Adams County.
From the onset of the competitive bid process to the seamless transition, it’s been evident that Adams County is wholeheartedly dedicated to doing it right and providing the highest standard of care for its inmate population. We couldn’t have asked more from them throughout this entire process, and we are grateful to serve and partner with Adams County and their team,”
With this new partnership, CorrHealth aims to set a new standard for correctional healthcare in Adams County, improving the overall wellbeing of inmates and helping to better serve and protect the community at large.
