For Dianna, the most rewarding part of working in correctional healthcare is about making a difference in a population that doesn’t have a choice. “They can’t make a choice on what doctor they see or what provider they see.” Her primary goal is to provide quality care with every inmate patient.
With more than 15 years of healthcare experience, Dianna, a Health Services Administrator (HSA) joined the CorrHealth team in Washington County, Texas last October. Dianna began her career with Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a ward clerk, she was inspired to pursue a career in healthcare by her family’s medical issues as well as her own. “I’ve always had that caring, nurturing part of me that’s always wanted to help people” says Dianna. She has dedicated her career to helping those within the correctional system, from working as a physical therapy assistant and later becoming an RN (Registered Nurse).
Staying true to CorrHealth’s mission, Dianna’s advice for nurses just beginning their career in correctional healthcare is to always “Do Right.” Dianna leads her team by reminding them that all patients deserve the utmost respect and care. Dianna says, “Stay fair, be consistent and provide quality care, and you can’t go wrong.”
