As our Operations Training Specialist, Kristine has spent the past year and nine months traveling to facilities, supporting teams, and helping ensure every CorrHealth team member is ready to deliver high-quality care with confidence, compassion, and clarity.

The existence of mental illness in America’s jails and prisons is a critical, often misunderstood issue. There are many myths surrounding the occurrence of serious mental illness in carceral settings. One persistent myth claims mental illness is rare among incarcerated individuals. Unfortunately, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth: The healthcare challenges related to caring for those with a serious mental illness are not only common but disproportionately affect those behind bars.

The integration of mental health treatment into county jails has marked a significant positive shift in the American criminal justice system. Since its inception in the 1970s, this new model has transformed the approach from purely punitive to a more comprehensive model of rehabilitation and care.
